i went to fredericturawith that i'll leave you the link hereand also when i presented this camera ishot some picture already with it okayso uh i wanted to give my impression mysensation i had using this lens and givemy honest opinion about it so let'scarry on first viltrox was the firstbrand that actually cracked uh theautofocus system by fujifilm so theystarted to uh do uh autofocus lenses forfujifilmand it was the only one uh i think maybeanother one now i'm not sure butthe fact is that uh there are more andmore lenses manual lenses for fujifilmbut not that many autofocus and this oneis autofocus with an stm motor whichmeans a silence t i can't remember and mis motor okay but it's true
it's fastand it's really silent so a goodautofocus system the weight 270 gramsfor that focal length and this aperturei think it's fine 72 millimeterlong okaythis part and 65 millimeter diameter and52 millimeter for the filter diametersize this is completely metal okay metalthe hood also is metal by the way it isincluded the suit many companies don'tput that includea sunshade with thewith their lens so it is includedand i saw some review and that peoplesaid that uh the quality the buildquality was not as good as the 85millimeter uh one point i don't knowwhat okay i can't remember i didn't tryit yetand i must say thati didn't see the other oneand this one is really good to myopinion so i don't know what has theother one that makes it a lot better i'mnot sure but this one is really goodquality similar quality as the 23minutes of 1.4 i tested a few months agookay so really fine you have i'm notgoing to remove the lens because thereis some dust here butyou have a usb connector so you canactually update the firmware which isreally good becauseif they havecamera compatibility or whatever theymay they could fix in there they couldupdate the firmware and it makes yourlens live forever or longer okay sothat's good point so let's look at thethethe machine itself the lens itself okayso
the aperture goes from 1.4 up tof16 okayand you have the a okay same as on afujifilm lens a it means you will have aautomatic aperturebut as you can seeit is click less okayit means you don't have the typicalclick click click every uhaperture or off or third okay andhonestly i don't like it i prefer tohave clicksi know that video peopledon't really like to have clicksbutfor me maybe a bit uh strange what i'mgoing to say but for me fujifilm is notfor videoobviously yes you can do some video buti'm not a fujifilm video guy honestlyokay soi've tested many umeven quality is good there are manythings that makes that i would not usefujifilm for a video but that's anotherstory okay souhi would like to have these clicks okaybut matter of taste by the way i want toreview the 23 millimeter1.4 i said it was click less also it isclick less some people did show me theother version with clicks it means thatat some point some wheel trucks add someclicks on the 23 millimeter and now theydon't put it and i don't know if thereare some version with clicks or not i'mnot sure but this one has no clicks theminimum focusing distance is 40centimetersi think it's too long uh i would like tohave it to have at most like 30centimeters it's true that i'm spoiledbecause my olympus that start at 20centimeters but still i think it couldbe a bit shorter i'm not sure if thefujifilm version has a shorter minimumdistance but i think 40 is a bit long tomy taste okay by the way as always theboxis solid good box well packed okay soit's important that sounds stupid but itis important that your investment isprotected
one important point if youhave a fujifilm x-pro 3it is not compatiblei know i said that for the 23rdminiature 1.4 but then it seemed toupdated the version now it's compatiblewhy not because it seems that the barrelis touching the depth of field buttonokayso i checked this morning before uhrecording this video and on veal truckswebsite it still says that on this oneit's not uh recommended or notcompatible with the x-pro three maybethey will fix it at a later date butright now it's not so uh if you have anexplore three forget about this one okaythe the big decision right now is uhshould you getthis one 33 millimeter 1.4and before you had no other choice andto go to a 2.0 likethe xf or the xs by fujifilmand yeah the 35 minutes of 1.4 but not33. okayso the 35 millimeter 1.4 by fujifilm isnotweatherproofdustproofand this one either soit was more a matter of the way thepicture looks the way the opticalquality but not the fact that it wasweather sealed okaybut in september fujifilm uh presented anew lens a 33 millimeter 1.4 which isweather resistant okay so it meansif uh for you uhweatherproof weather resistant wasreally the important point you don'thave togo to the 35 millimeter 2.0 anymore nowyou can go to the 33 millimeter 1.4 byfujifilm so this is a big difference uhbetween price and between uh the factthatit's weather resistant in my case mycamera is not weather resistant so itdoesn't really matter butif you have an xt4 or camera like thisthat is weather resistant maybe you areinterested in the 33 meter 1.4 that isweather resistant okay so let's speakaboutimage quality well
many people want 1.4because of the shallow depth of fieldand they want to see a nice bokeh okaysothey look for creamy bokeh well there'sno exception this one is good thebokeh is creamy but obviously uh with areally uhwith only 40 centimeter minimum focusingdistanceyou will not get out of focus as much asif you get close to acentimeters to your subject obviouslybut still what you get is creamy it'snice nice transition that's fine inoticed that uh below f4 you do have achromatic aberration for some peoplethis is a big drama for the people thatdon't even see it but yes it is okay itis there okay so to me it will not makeme not buy a lens like this for somepeople this is vital and they cannotafford to have aoptical aberration so then that would bea problem but uh it's there we cannotsay it's not there it is here okay let'sspeak about vignetting well i shot thesky and honestly i think vignetting isreally okay uh at maximum aperture maybea bit but then when you go throughlightroom it disappears okay so okaylens distortion i show you a wall i makepicture you see it yourself you candecide if you see some distortion or notit's
better than me speaking have a lookand yes i noticed that uh build truckslenses while the two have testedare warmer than fujifilm uh the colorsare warmer than fuji films very oftenpeople think that the fact that is warmor cold is just a sensor and that's notobviously the light goes through theglass and depending on the glass theusing you will get warmer or coolercooler colors and in this case it's abit warmer it is not a problem you justadjust your balance while balance ifit's a problem to you but the same as ifyou you would adjust if it was too uh tocool anyway uh what i did also is ichecked flare i was not able to get thisred flare i was getting with the 23millimeter 1.4 i got no more flair okayso if you were worried about this uhcolor a red color cast i was getting on23 minutes i didn't see it on this onemaybe some people will
but maybe becauseof the coating i don't know i didn'thave the problem okay so the bigdecision would be uh do i pay threetimes the price or a bit more than threetimes the price to get the33 millimeter 1.4and would i pay to get a 35 millimeter1.4 by fujifilm no honestly i would notpay for the 35 minutes or 1.4 having thenew version the 33 millimeter 1.4 thatis weather resistant but to me my onlydecision would be around the weatherresistance because i thinkmaybe it's optically better i've nottried it please uh photoshop lend it tome i will try it okaybut uh for what i see sometimes what yousee is sufficient it's okay it's fineyou know so you don't have to complicateyourself and think uh yeah but the otherone will be much better very oftenpeople cannot see the difference betweentwo pictures okay or they have tomagnify the picture and then yes theysee the difference but in normal use ofpicture very often you will not see itsome people really need to have uh aregoing to print really large and theywon't really sharp everything on thecorners all this this one is maybe nottech sharp in the corners so if thefujifilm is maybe they will pay thesethree times the price okay but otherwisei think viltrox is getting a great jobuh giving the opportunity to fujifilmowners to have a good quality lens foran
